Designer Q&A: Frankfurt Christmasworld

Our Gallerie II designer, Kari, just returned from Frankfurt, Germany, where she attended the Frankfurt Christmasworld, a five day market celebrating all things Christmas, with 953 exhibitors and nearly 40,000 attendees.

During her visit, Kari was able to get a first look at the trending themes and color stories for Christmas 2017, as well as gain inspiration and sourcing connections for upcoming Gallerie II products and displays. We sat down with her this week to get the inside scoop on all things Christmas, as well as a peek into what's coming for GII, in July.

How does your trip to Christmasworld help inspire new ideas and products for Gallerie II?

I love learning about trending colors, textures, and mediums. It's fun to find out what other people are doing with regard to creative displays and presentation. This trip, I was able to connect with a few new sources for Gallerie II. I'm really excited about the potential there.

What are some of the most interesting things you saw this year?

LED light garlands; everything LED is really big right now. Faux fur photo pillows, suspended displays, deluxe ribbon...so many!

Looking ahead at Gallerie II's July collection, what are you most excited about?

We are doing a new presentation of Easter: rabbit art dolls (including new dolls from Joe Spencer!) capiz eggs, ferns, spring garden, butterflies, etc. We are also focusing on expanding our Fourth of July offerings with some really neat new products and decor.
